This was exactly my experience of leaders in church and I am beginning to untangle where it has damaged me. I recall once being sat in a room of oxbridge undergraduates being told much of this by a prominent evangelical leader with the conclusion that 90% of those in the room should go into (paid) Church leadership (though we understood he really meant 90% of the men).
So, that’s how we end up in this mess! It’s compelling at points, and I guess that’s the danger; the half truths
