To those who are Radio 4’s Today programme aficionados, Charlotte Green’s voice will be as familiar as your best friend’s. She has all the authority and gravitas that a Radio 4 newsreader should have… until this morning… when she completely lost it and brought joy to millions.

She was announcing the news of what is thought to be the first ever recording of the human voice, dating back to 1860. But when a colleague muttered that instead of the French song Claire de lune, it sounded more like a ‘bee buzzing in a bottle’ she lost it. Completely.

What joy. Listen to it here.
